January – A Poem

January 20, 2010

January.
You came too soon.
You brought with you growth.
And pain. You took away my youth.
Your days are like daggers January.
You move too fast, yet this feel so slow.
4 weeks. 31 days. 744 hours. 44640 minutes.
25 years of sorrow.

January I wish you were more kind.
Your cold weather and long nights.
Your short days and bright lights.

He left me January. He left me in January.
Was it because of you?
He stopped loving me on your first day.
He stopped loving me when you first came.
Who will keep me warm now January?
Who will make it all right?

Will it be you after so long?
Will you be different this year?
Will you wipe away the tears?
Will you take away my fears?

January, I wish you were not here.
